Guqin Introduction

The Guqin is a plucked seven-string Chinese musical instrument of the zither family. It has been played since ancient times, and has traditionally been favored by scholars and literati as an instrument of great subtlety and refinement. This instrument was traditionally called as Qin. According to a legend this instrument has a history of 5000 years. This instrument was known to be a favorite instrument among scholars. In the playing of Guqin, players had to use a variety of techniques in order to use full potential of the instrument. These players would have to read the specialist and unique tablature. It was developed over the centuries.
